Abstract |
The WRPW motif mediates recruitment of transcriptional co-repressors of the Groucho/transducin-like enhancer-of-split (TLE) family, and has been identified in the Hairy family of basic-helix-loop-helix (bHLH) domain-containing proteins and the Runt family proteins (WRPY) (Paroush,1994; Fisher,1996; Grbavec,1996; Courey,2001). In these two protein families, the motif is situated at (or near) the C-terminus. Additional Groucho-binding motifs not restricted to the C-terminus are: FRPW in Huckebein (Drosophila) near the N-terminus (Goldstein,1999), and FKPY in Brinker (Drosophila) (Zhang,2001). |
